Changes at MCR Safety

April 10, 2018

Larry GarnerOver the 44 year history of MCR Safety, Larry Garner has been an integral part of our leadership team. As Larry nears his 40th anniversary with our company, he will be transitioning into semi-retirement. MCR Safety's success and reputation in the market is due in a large part to Larry's contributions. Starting with the most humble of beginnings with Hilliard Crews, our founder, and working tirelessly over the years, Larry has helped MCR Safety grow and expand into one of the most respected companies in the PPE industry. Larry's energy, passion and excitement, even today, are a model for new leaders. Now he wishes to spend more time with family (especially his grandkids) and other personal interests.

"In addition to his full plate at MCR, Larry also serves on the Board of his church, serves in soup kitchens, clothes closets for the homeless and maintains a personal training regime that would be envied by people 20 years his junior!" stated Mitch Lewellen, Chief Executive Officer.

Going forward, Larry will continue to be a visible part of our team on a part-time, semi-retired basis. He will mentor and assist our team by continuing his participation with tradeshows, end user events, International Glove Association (IGA), as well as serving on the University of Memphis Advisory Marketing Board.

We are also happy to announce that effective April 1, 2018, Chris Smith will assume the position of Director of Marketing. Chris brings with him 15 years of sales, product, and customer knowledge the he will be able to successfully leverage into his new role and position. He will continue to work closely with all departments with a direct focus of further integrating our Sales and Marketing strategies.

Chris expressed "It is a privilege and honor to follow in the footsteps of Larry and I look forward to the opportunity to grow and strengthen MCR Safety's brand in the marketplace."

MCR Safety appreciates and thanks Larry for all his past contributions and for his commitment to continue to serve our company in the future!  Also, join us in congratulating Chris Smith on his new role and position!

Chris SmithAbout Chris: Chris Smith is a proud husband, father of a daughter and son, active member of Germantown Baptist Church (GBC), and native of Germantown, TN. He is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University with a BAS degree in Aerospace. During his fifteen year tenure, Chris progressed from an Inside Sales, Outside Sales, Director of Sales, and currently Director of Marketing for MCR Safety. In addition to his professional roles, he currently serves on the recreation committee at GBC, referees basketball, coaches several sports, and is an active softball player in the community. Many of his passions include supporting his daughter's competitive volleyball teams at regional and national tournaments as well as cheering on the University of Memphis Tigers. One of his favorite verses is Proverbs 14:23 NIV "All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty".

About Larry: Larry Garner is currently celebrating his 40 years of successes with MCR Safety. He is the proud father of two sons, four grandchildren, member of First Presbyterian Church, and native of Memphis. He is a graduate of The University of Memphis with a BBA degree in Marketing with an emphasis on Sales. He served as President of Memphis Glove, the original entity of what is today MCR Safety. He then served as President of Domestic Sales and most recently as Chief Marketing Officer for MCR Safety. Today he contributes part-time as the V.P. Customer Engagement while also representing MCR Safety on the Board of Directors for the International Glove Association and University of Memphis Marketing and Supply Chain Advisory Board. His community involvement includes the First Presbyterian Church Outreach program as a soup kitchen/clothes coordinator and pastoral nominating committee.
