MSA Safety, Inc. announced the launch of its newest gas and flame monitoring solution, the SENTRY io® Controller. This new controller is a safety monitoring system for MSA gas and flame detectors that helps reduce costs and provides access to data analytics that help to protect workers and facilities.

The SENTRY io Controller is a wall-mounted device that acts as a centralized input and output hub that aggregates the signals it receives from gas and flame detectors and other field safety devices. By comparing signals, the controller triggers alerts and alarms and can activate important notification and hazard mitigation equipment that’s required to notify workers and safeguard a facility.

Designed for easy use with an intuitive touchscreen operating system, the SENTRY io Controller can help users save time and reduce costs through its simplified configuration abilities. It allows users to see real-time system data that is presented in a simple way. Historical data can be downloaded from the controller system to help users monitor for developing threats and the controller features diagnostic tools to enable predictive maintenance. The controller’s advanced diagnostics provide gas leak or flame event data logging to help take safety planning from reactive to proactive.

To aid in configuration, the controller is pre-programmed to automatically recognize MSA Safety gas and flame detectors that are HART-enabled for faster setup. A built-in SmartStart Configuration Wizard provides guided workflows that walk users through the set-up process and commissioning to save time. The controller supports up to 16 gas and flame detection channels and is scalable for larger systems. There is also the capability to network multiple SENTRY io Controllers together to help reduce costs for new and existing detection systems. This flexible control platform is compatible with multiple bus communication interfaces: Modbus TCP/IP, HART, EtherNet/IP and optional Modbus RTU.
