DuPont has released a new single-use secondary flame-resistant garment designed to protect against flash fires and hazardous particulate contaminants. The Tyvek 400 SFR coverall is made with the company’s Tyvek nonwoven fabric that has been flame-retardant treated. The garment is also designed to be comfortable and durable, offering wearers a balance of protection in a lightweight solution.

The Tyvek 400 SFR coverall is specifically designed to provide multi-hazard protection for workers in a variety of industries. The garment is ideal for those in the oil and gas, environmental services, utilities, manufacturing, and maintenance sectors. The coverall is also suitable for operations where workers may be exposed to hazardous and non-hazardous particles.

“Tyvek 400 SFR represents our commitment to continuous innovation,” said Dave Kee, Global Business Leader for DuPont Personal Protection. “We were challenged by our customers to improve upon traditional single-use secondary flame-resistant garments and Tyvek 400 SFR answers that by offering superior particle barrier protection and improved durability in a lighter-weight fabric.”

The Tyvek 400 SFR coverall features a relaxed fit design with a diamond gusset crotch to allow for unrestricted movement. The garment is available in two styles: a non-hooded coverall with open sleeves and ankles, and a hooded coverall with elasticated wrists and ankles. Both styles include red external stitched seams, a red zipper, and a red border on the chest patch to indicate the garment’s secondary flame resistance.

In addition to its protection and comfort features, the Tyvek 400 SFR coverall also offers a sustainable solution. The garment can be recycled through DuPont’s Tyvek protective apparel recycling program if it is not contaminated with hazardous materials or biohazards.

DuPont is a global company known for its technology-based materials and solutions. The company operates in a variety of markets including electronics, transportation, construction, water, healthcare, and worker safety.
