"We have decided to change the structure of AIHA (American Industrial Hygiene Association) to meet the current and changing needs of the profession and our members," said Steven Davis, CAE, AIHA executive director, in explaining the changes.

"We are living in a fast-paced world and we must remain vigilant, nimble and strategic if we want to compete."

The reorg involves layoffs and new positions:

  • A new senior-level position will oversee management of AIHA's volunteer efforts through the committee structure, ANSI initiatives and alliances that AIHA expects to continue to develop.

  • At least one additional position will be added to represent the growing environmental health component of the profession and another will focus on its growing safety aspects.

  • Several current staff have been promoted. They include: Peter J. O'Neil, CAE, who has been promoted from director, communications and member services to assistant executive director; Connie Paradise, CAE, from manager to senior manager, marketing and product development; Vicky Yobp, from manager to senior manager, member services; Kim Banks, from manager to senior manager, laboratory quality assurance programs; Kris Heinbaugh, from specialist to manager, quality systems; Barbara Taylor, from assistant manager to manager, product development; and Kim Bacon, from membership coordinator to assistant manager, membership and Academy relations.
