Scott Safety opens new service and training facility in Abu Dhabi, expanding global reach

October 19, 2012
Scott Safety, a leading manufacturer of innovative respiratory protection, gas detection and other PPE equipment, has announced the opening of a new training, servicing and assembly facility in Abu Dhabi to support its growing customer base in the Middle East. The new facility affirms the company’s commitment to the first responders and emergency service professionals who depend on Scott Safety products to protect them in high risk oil and energy production environments in the region.

Based in the Industrial City of Adu Dhabi, the facility opened October 10, with staff engaged in the assembly of some of Scott Safety’s key products, a service and warranty support department and a regional sales team offering customer support and guidance. Companies operating in the region will benefit from accelerated lead times for local service and product delivery ranging from SCBA, escape sets, airline breathing apparatus, portable and fixed gas detection and hearing and head protection. The new building also incorporates a training facility to provide customers, partners and end users with a dedicated resource for demonstrations and product training.

Scott Safety products provide protection from environmental hazards including smoke, toxic fumes, combustible gases, falling objects and flame contaminants and are designed to deliver five key components: optimum protection, simplicity of use, user comfort, low through life costs and simple maintenance. The company built its reputation through innovation and a collaborative approach to product development and design by working with “real world” end users.  The Scott Safety line of more than 300 safety products includes self-contained breathing apparatus, supplied air and air-purifying respirators, gas and flame detection instruments, thermal imaging cameras, air compressors, accountability systems, and head, eye and face protection.

For more than 80 years, Scott Safety has been an industry leader in the development of leading-edge detection and protective equipment and technologies for the oil and gas, agriculture, military/civil defense, aviation, maritime fire protection and industrial/construction industries. The company’s legacy grew from a culture of purpose-built protective solutions for the aviation industry, but quickly became the benchmark for protective equipment across a broad field of industries and applications. “Safety and safer emergency response in the workplace is where the company started—it is still our first and last priority in every product development initiative, every product presentation and every training program,” said Tina Deatherage, Scott Global Marketing Communications Manager. “The new facility lets us focus on that priority—working with customers on their specific needs and requirements, while improving overall customer safety preparedness in the Middle East petroleum, oil and gas production environment in the process,” continued Deatherage.

David Jackson, Scott Safety’s regional sales director, Middle East says: “Scott Safety plays a critical role in the lives of our customers and we take that responsibility very seriously.  Many of our customers in the Middle East region are operating in high-risk industries—our new offices and facilities in Abu Dhabi will enable us to respond to their needs quickly and efficiently.  We put our customers first, as often their safety depends on our products. We are looking forward to providing them with excellent service and support that will enable them to do their jobs safely.”

Many of the company’s products used in Middle East oil and gas operations are produced or assembled at the company’s state-of-the-industry manufacturing plant in Monroe, NC. For more information about Scott Safety and its full range of products please visit www.scottsafety.com.
