The glove is flame resistant to ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) D-6413 and F2302 levels, which means the glove has been tested under an open flame without igniting, melting or dripping. It also protects against arc flash accidents with an arc rating of 55 cal/cm2 giving it a level 4 Hazard Risk Category (HRC), making it ideal for tasks such as
wire splicing.  

The second layer of the glove utilizes a FR Nomex® lining, a "go to" material for endless products protecting firefighters, Air Force pilots and industrial workers. A flame-resistant aromatic nylon, which will not burn, drip, melt or support combustion in the air, the layer also adds insulation keeping hands both warm as well as protected.

The third layer of the Youngstown Waterproof Ultimate lined with Kevlar® glove consists of an FR Porelle®  membrane which is both extremely waterproof, windproof and highly breathable.
