Ergodyne debuts new head protection line with launch of two new bump caps

November 6, 2013

Ergodyne has announced today the expansion of their Skullerz® Head Protection Line as well as the first products to be introduced under this new brand: the Skullerz® 8950 Bump Cap and 8960 Bump Cap with LED lighting technology.

For applications that do not require a hard hat but still have overhead hazards, these new bump caps provide head protection from worker–generated bumps, bruises, and cuts without the additional height and bulk of a traditional hard hat. The stylish and comfortable new caps are available with both short and long brims – and with (model 8960) or without patented hands–free LED lighting built into the cap brim (model 8950).

“Not all workzones require the level of protection provided by a suspension hard hat,” said Andy Olson, senior product manager. “Many of these applications, however, do still present risks for workers to incur painful and costly head bumps, bruises, and cuts caused by confined spaces, overhead obstacles, or other hazards. For these workers, the new bump caps deliver the perfect combination of protection and lightweight breathability.”

Engineered with the worker experience in mind, Ergodyne’s EN 812:2012–certified bump caps provide proper protection while also delivering exceptional comfort using a unique patented flanged shell that expands or contracts to fit the workers’ head for a secure, comfortable fit. Additionally, the new bump caps boast thermo–formed foam and a ventilated shell which allow for optimized breathability. The shell is also easily removed for cleaning.

“Ergodyne has a three decade history of protecting workers,” said Tom Votel, president and CEO. “We’re proud and excited to extend our best-in-class innovation to protection of the most important part of the body – the head – protecting workers from all manner of worker-generated head injuries.”

The addition of patented hands-free LED lighting built right into the brim on the 8960 Bump Cap takes protection and productivity to a whole new level. Powered by four lithium-ion batteries and based on Ergodyne’s popular 8940 PowerCap™, the new 8960 illuminates workspaces without a flashlight or bulky headlamp.

Ideal for workers in confined spaces with risk of injuring their head, the Skullerz® 8950 Bump Cap and 8960 Bump Cap with LED lighting technology will be available December 2013 at all authorized Ergodyne distributors. For more information, visit www.ergodyne.com or call 800.225.8238 // +1 651.642.9889. To place an order, email orders@ergodyne.com.
