ACGIH® will present Zika Virus: An Emerging Infectious Disease, Epidemiology, Risks and Prevention in the Workplace on May 23, 2017 at the following times:

2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time
1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Central Time
12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. Mountain Time
11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Pacific Time

Zika Virus: An Emerging Infectious Disease, Epidemiology, Risks and Prevention in the Workplace will present the history and evolution of the Zika Virus including understanding the geographic areas and populations at risk, the epidemiology of the disease, modes of transmission, case definitions, clinical presentation, health effects, surveillance and prevention in the workplace and in the community.

After participating in this webinar, attendees will be able to:

  • Describe how the Zika Virus is transmitted
  • Identify current geographic distribution and possible spread of the virus
  • Identify the symptoms and potential complications of a Zika infection
  • Recognize the special risks during pregnancy
  • Discuss key prevention and protection strategies for Zika
  • Develop risk communication messages for the workplace

Rachel Rubin, MD, MPH, FACP will present this webinar.

Dr. Rubin is a senior Public Health Medical Officer with the Cook County Department of Public Health and holds faculty appointments at the University of Illinois at Chicago School of Public Health and Rush University Medical College.  Dr. Rubin’s area of responsibility within the health department includes oversight for the Communicable Diseases and Environmental Health Services units.  She is also a practicing internist and specialist in Occupational Medicine.  Dr. Rubin trained at Cook County Hospital in Chicago and has worked for the Cook County Health system for most of her career.  In addition, Dr. Rubin spent two years in Mozambique working as a Public Health specialist and the district medical chief.  Dr. Rubin is a 12-year member of ACGIH® and is currently serving as Chair of the ACGIH® Threshold Limit Values for Chemical Substances (TLV®-CS) Committee.

This webinar contains 1.0 contact hour and may be eligible for ABIH CM credit.  See the ABIH website (www.abih.org) for CM credit criteria.  This webinar may also qualify for BCSP recertification points for Certified Safety Professionals.  Participants seeking confirmation of attendance for the webinar from ACGIH® must attend the live webinar or view the archive and submit a final exam and evaluation.  Certificates of Completion will be issued in a timely manner after receipt and completion of these items.
