Dakota pipeline company spills lubricant into Ohio wetlands

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has ordered a Texas-based company to stop new drilling on a $4.2 billion project, after one of its pipelines spilled millions of gallons of a lubricant into a half a million square feet of Ohio wetlands.

Verso to pay $10,000 fine in chemical spills

May 18, 2016
The Maryland Department of the Environment says Memphis-based Verso Corp. will pay a $10,000 settlement for two chemical spills that tainted the Potomac River last fall. Agency spokesman Jay Apperson said the amount is the same as a fine the agency proposed in February.
