In a comment submitted to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) today concerning its proposed rule to set ‘significant new use rules (SNURs)’ for chemical substances, seven of which include the term carbon nanotubes, the American Society of Safety Engineers’ (ASSE) President Terrie S. Norris, CSP, ARM, CSPI, urged the EPA to rescind its sole reliance on personal protection equipment (PPE), especially respirators, and revise the rule to mandate implementation of feasible engineering controls in order to reduce a worker’s exposure to nanomaterials.

With the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) embarking upon its second century of existence, ASSE President Terrie S. Norris, CSP, ARM is issuing a call for action to the occupational safety, health and environmental profession.
American Society of Safety Engineers’ (ASSE) President Terrie S. Norris, CSP, ARM became a member of an international committee during the World Congress on Safety and Health at Work conference, which wraps up today in Istanbul, Turkey. Norris joined colleagues from Germany and France, becoming a vice-chair of the newly-formed International Section of the International Social Security Association's (ISSA) "Prevention Culture Section."
