Proportionately more young people than baby boomers (age 35-54) wear bicycle helmets while riding, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission. Sixty-nine percent of under-18-year-olds wear helmets, compared with 43 percent of boomers. Boomers died of head injuries from biking at almost twice the rate of the younger group.
