KEEN Utility unveils new 2012 industrial footwear styles for men and women

As winter loosens its grip on most of the country in early spring, construction, skilled craft and other trade vocations begin their very busy working season battling long days, challenging builds, wet weather and work site obstacles.

Now in its third season, KEEN Utility meets these challenges feet-first with a collection of innovative and progressive footwear, an arsenal of tools including unique safety and performance features and a 90-day “Best Boots Ever” guarantee.

For Spring 2012 KEEN Utility continues its momentum, expanding such style collections including men’s Goodyear welt offerings, adding a warm-weather option for women workers and including a puncture resistant style built in the U.S.A.

“Men and women are demanding more versatility in their boots and shoes,” said Kevin Kious, sales manager for KEEN Utility. “KEEN was founded on the unique idea of creating multi-purpose hybrid footwear that blends form with function. Equal parts safety and comfort, KEEN Utility continues this mission with industrial shoes that are so much more.”

Highlights from the spring collection include:

Hard-working boots, assembled by hard-working Americans
Built in the U.S.A. in KEEN’s hometown of Portland, Oregon, the men’s Portland PR boots are to stand up to shards of glass, jagged metals and even nails that make work environments ever more dangerous. The puncture resistant midsole plates are paired with lightweight asymmetrical aluminum toes for added protection. Waterproof full-grain leather is supple and flexible while 3M reflective piping adds additional safety visibility in low-light conditions. The KEEN.Dry waterproof, breathable membrane and Dri-Lex lining provide excellent air circulation and waterproof protection, wicking moisture away and keeping feet cool and dry in the wettest work environments. The Portland PR also features an oil and slip-resistant non-marking rubber outsole and meets ANSI standards for electrical hazard protection from open circuits making this one boot perfect for heavy construction, waste management or other industrial jobs that require safety footwear that goes the extra mile. Available in six and eight-inch styles in brown and black color variations.

Boots that keep feet cool, now for women
Named after a city that is accustomed to steamy spring and summer months, the Atlanta Cool was originally introduced in Spring 2011 for men looking for a lightweight and highly breathable work boot option. For Spring 2012 KEEN Utility brings a new version to women workers everywhere, adding the Atlanta Cool ESD to the roster. The low-cut outdoor silhouette features a highly breathable mesh liner making the boot lightweight, breathable and perfect for hot weather jobs including light-duty manufacturing, landscaping, light construction, driving and more. Asymmetrical left and right steel toes deliver lightweight comfort and provide contoured protection and satisfying ASTM safety standards. Electrostatic dissipative (ESD), the women’s Atlanta construction reduces excess static electricity and also features an oil and slip-resistant non-marking rubber outsole for increased durability and stability.

Proudly standing behind their boots so you can stand in them, KEEN Utility’s 90-Day Best Boots Ever Guarantee, pledges that after three months, if they are not the most comfortable work boots you have ever worn, they will take them back, no questions asked.

KEEN Utility marches into Spring 2012 with a collection of fan favorites and new additions that create footwear options for hardworking men and women looking for a boot to support them from work to weekend and everywhere in between.
