OSHA has signed a two-year renewal of its alliance with the Crane Manufacturers Association of America (CMAA), the Hoist Manufacturers Institute (HMI) and the Monorail Manufacturers Association (MMA). This is a renewal of the alliance originally signed in 2005.

The purpose of the alliance is to provide crane, hoist and monorail systems owners and operators with information, guidance and access to education and training resources that will advance their workplace safety and health. The alliance will emphasize efforts to protect Spanish-speaking and other vulnerable, "hard-to-reach" employees, according to a statement announcing the renewal.

"Our alliance has made substantial progress over the past two years in reducing and preventing serious or fatal incidents in the material handling industry," said Assistant Secretary of Labor for OSHA Edwin G. Foulke Jr.

CMAA, HMI and MMA are affiliated trade associations of Material Handling Industry of America (MHIA).
