OSHA seeks Harwood training grant applicants (6/25)

OSHA announced in the Federal Register June 21 that it is soliciting Susan Harwood Training Grant applications.

OSHA awards funds to nonprofit organizations to provide training and education programs for employers and employees on safety and health topics selected by the agency. Nonprofit organizations, including community-based and faith-based organizations that are not an agency of a State or local government, are eligible to apply.

The application deadline is July 20, 2007.

Fourteen training topics were selected for this grant announcement including excavation and trench hazards, combustible dust, and driver safety. Training grants will be awarded for a 12-month period that begins September 30, 2007.

There is approximately $10.1 million available for the Targeted Topic training grants. The average federal award is expected to be $175,000.

Applications for grants submitted under this competition must be transmitted electronically at www.grants.gov, or contact the OSHA Directorate of Training and Education for assistance.
