PIP donates portion of product proceeds to support breast cancer awareness (3/1)
Protective Industrial Products, Inc. (PIP) is joining the fight against breast cancer by donating 6% of the proceeds from its new safety eyewear line, Eva™, to the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer campaign, the company announced in a press release.
“PIP is proud to be a part of this worthy effort to help raise breast cancer awareness and assist in finding a cure,” said Joe Milot III, PIP’s director of product management.
The Eva™ line of safety eyewear was designed and developed specifically for women in the workforce. The design of these safety glasses allows for the eyewear to better fit the facial structure of a woman, and provides a more secure fit, the company says. A pink awareness ribbon accents each pair of safety glasses.
“By 2010 the number of women in the workforce will increase to 48%, yet there has not been safety eyewear designed in fashion or fit specifically for women..... Until Now!” said Jim Gawinski, Eyewear Product Manager at PIP. “We kept the design of the women’s eyewear simplistic in style. This lets the eyewear design fit many different female facial shapes.”
“We are so honored to be partnering with PIP in the fight against breast cancer,” said Michele Mack, director of special events for the American Cancer Society. “Funds raised by this program will help women battling breast cancer here in the Capitol Region through our research, education, advocacy and patient services initiatives.”
The first quarterly donation in the amount of $5,000 was donated to the Capital Region chapter of the ACS on February 3rd.
“There has been an overwhelming response to the Eva™ eyewear line,” said Bridget Amicone, PIP’s Director of Operations and Administration. “We believe it is important to continually give back to the community and are committed to future donations from Eva™ sales to help raise awareness about an issue that affects so many.”
