Quick action saves worker's arm

Quick-thinking employees helped a co-worker whose arm was severed at a potato processing plant in Jamestown, N.D., to return from emergency surgery with the arm intact, according to an article by the Associated Press.

Janice Carter, 42, had her arm severed above the elbow at the Cavendish Farms potato processing plant. Employees at the plant helped Carter immediately by stemming the bleeding and applying pressure on her arm, and putting the severed limb on ice.

Carter was airlifted to a nearby hospital, where doctors reattached the limb.
