A recent survey of employers who sponsor health care plans found that 64% of these employers believe that health care benefits should continue to be employer-based, according to a press release from the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans. Only 25 % of respondents said that the current health care systems should be replaced with a government-sponsored national health care system. And only 20% support replacing the current system with universal coverage purchased by individuals.

Most respondents, 71%, agreed that the U.S health care system needs a complete overhaul, and 68% said there should be a uniform, nation-wide approach to health care. Only 28% of respondents said that health care should be handled at the state, rather than federal, level.

But employers are not expecting changes anytime soon: Only 45% believe that major federal reforms will become law during the next presidential term.
