Larson Electronics reveals a new 1600 watt high output LED light plant powered by a 7kw water cooled diesel generator

November 5, 2014

Larson Electronics light plantIndustrial lighting specialist Larson Electronics has announced the release of a 1,600 watt high output LED light mast powered by 7kw brushless water cooled diesel generator. This trailer mounted light tower and generator set comes equipped with a 150 gallon fuel tank that will run continuously without refueling for up to 225 hours consecutively.

The WCDE-7-PLM30-4X400W-LED self-sustained LED light tower from Larson Electronics is a high power lighting package powered by a 7kw brushless water cooled diesel generator. The four 400 watt lamps included with this unit produce a combined total of 208,000 lumens and is a direct replacement for 4,000 watt metal halide light plants. This trailer mounted light tower and generator set comes equipped with a 150 gallon fuel tank that will run continuously without refueling for up to 225 hours. This mobile floodlight package is ideal for large scale event illumination, construction, mining, industrial operations and anywhere a mobile full power lighting system capable of extended operation is needed.

The lighting system on this unit is comprised of four 400 watt LED lamps producing 52,000 lumens of light each attached to the end of the telescoping pneumatic light boom. These floodlights produce a wide flood light pattern with a combined total of 1,600 watts and 208,000 lumens of light. The entire assembly is connected to the power source via a 4-switch control box. Each light head is on an individual circuit and can be powered on or off independently of the other light fixtures. The telescoping pneumatic mast that extends and lowers these lights can reach 30 feet in height with the use of a 220 volt air compressor. The compressor is equipped with a pressure switch that maintains the pressure within the mast. Once the mast is deployed from the component control center, its operation is automated. The air compressor will turn on briefly when the pressure in the mast falls below the fully inflated threshold. In normal operation, the air compressor may turn on once every few days for about five minutes to top off the mast. When it is time for deployment, the operator simply releases the pressure switch and the mast will slowly release pressure and lower to its full collapsed height of 8.25’.

The entire system is mounted onto a two wheel, single axle trailer constructed of tube steel and 1/8” diamond plate trailer bed. The trailer is approximately 8’ long and 6’ wide. Each axle is rated at 3,500 pounds and equipped with electric brakes and tubeless tires and steel wheels. The trailer is equipped with a removable tongue for extra security. A single 3,500 pounds rated tongue jack provides a stable connect-disconnect platform as well as additional stability during tower deployment. The trailer is finished in industrial grade paint for protection against rust and corrosion and provides an attractive finish. The five 3,500 pounds integrated outriggers can be slid out from the frame and pinned into place. A standard crank style support leg can be used to secure each outrigger to the ground. The outrigger feet are over-sized and equipped with through holes for additional ground anchoring mechanisms.

“This self-contained LED light plant provides operators with a worry free and energy efficient alternative to metal halide light plants,” said Rob Bresnahan with Larsonelectronics.com. “The 400 watt LED light heads have a considerably less amp draw than metal halide light heads and the generator provides 225 hours of runtime on a single tank of fuel.”

Larson Electronics carries an extensive line of LED light towers, portable power distributions, explosion proof lights for hazardous locations, portable work lights and industrial grade LED area lights.
