Wildeck debuted new EdgeAlert™ open gate alarm at the ASSE Safety 2015 Exposition

June 12, 2015

Wildeck EdgeAlertWildeck, Inc. showcased a variety of safety products, including its new EdgeAlert™ Open Gate Alarm, at the ASSE Safety 2015 Conference and Exposition, June 7-9 in Dallas.

Wildeck’s patent-pending EdgeAlert™ Open Gate Alarm is a new safety device that can help reduce accidents and OSHA violations by warning when elevated mezzanine platform gates are inadvertently left open. An open gate on an elevated mezzanine level is a serious safety concern that could result in an employee falling and sustaining severe injury, including broken bones, lacerations or even death. When properly installed, the EdgeAlert™ alarm will signal an open gate condition with a highly visible flashing light and a loud audible alarm.

The EdgeAlert™ alarm is easy to operate and can be installed on new or existing swing gates, slide gates, tilt gates or scissor gates.  It includes a 120 VAC plug-in power supply and can also be powered by (4) long life alkaline “D” cell batteries, which are not included with the device.  A Single-Pole, Single-Throw 30V, 2A, 60W Relay Output is provided for connection to other alarms or safety controls.  A dual-channel processor system is self-monitoring and will display a “fault” signal if a sensor or wiring problem is detected.

Said Hubert A. Schlegel, Director of Marketing, Wildeck: “The EdgeAlert™ Open Gate Alarm is a must-have device that can help protect personnel, increase facility safety and reduce the costs associated with injuries and lost time accidents.  Every elevated gate that could inadvertently be left open should have an EdgeAlert™ alarm.”

Other Wildeck safety products that were on display:

Wilgard® protective guard rail is the industry’s strongest protection against PIV (Powered Industrial Vehicle) impacts. It is constructed of high-strength steel and has a durable bright safety yellow paint finish for high visibility. Wilgard® protective guard rail is designed to protect personnel and equipment from a severe 13,000 pound PIV impact (forklift, etc.) traveling at speeds up to 4 mph.

The Rolastair Mobile Rolling Ladder, from Wildeck’s subsidiary, Ladder Industries, is a versatile mobile access ladder that is ideal for many industries, including manufacturing, packaging, material handling and aviation. Seven versions of the Rolastair ladder are available, including the Standard Rolastair; Folding Rolastair; Super-Duty Rolastair; Aluminum Rolastair; E Z-Climb Rolastair; Stockpicker Rolastair; and Cantilever Rolastair.

ASSE Safety 2015 attendees also learned about other Wildeck material handling products; Wildeck had a scale model showing typical integration of its mezzanine platform, protective guard rail and vertical reciprocating conveyor (VRC).

Founded in 1976, Wildeck is the largest manufacturer of industrial steel work platforms (mezzanines), VRCs and safety guarding products designed for numerous applications and industries.
