Canadian manufacturer purchases Sellstrom Mfg. Co.

January 8, 2016

Sellstrom Manufacturing Co. in November announced the sale of the company to the JET Group, a wholesale manufacturer of tools, equipment and safety products, based in Vancouver, Canada.

The JET Group consists of several leading brands servicing the professional tool, equipment and safety markets including: JET®, Strongarm®, ITC®, STARTECH®, Pioneer®, Ranpro® and PeakWorks® in Canada, and American Forge & Foundry® in the U.S. Their professional “One-Source” Canadian product portfolio includes: hand tools, tool storage, shop equipment, lube/fluid transfer, air tools material handling, hydraulic lifting equipment, lighting, abrasives and cutting tools, high-viz safety apparel, FR safety apparel, rain wear, work wear, work boots and fall protection products.

The acquisition of Sellstrom is aligned with JET Group’s corporate strategy to expand its reach into the U.S. safety market.

Sellstrom is a well-respected, 92-year old brand of PPE products in the U.S. and globally. Sellstrom offers a portfolio of premium quality PPE products including: head, eye, face, arc-flash, hearing, welding safety products and helmets, the RTCTM brand of fall protection equipment as well as their industry leading MonitorTM Germicidal Cabinets and Gravit-EyeTM portable eye wash stations. The Sellstrom management team will be joining the JET Group and remain completely focused on the product, service and sales development of the Sellstrom brand globally.

JET Group offers Sellstrom the capital, resources and expertise necessary to enhance their existing business. The strategy will be to aggressively expand the range of available products in many of Sellstrom’s existing PPE categories. In time Sellstrom’s U.S. customers will gain access to many of JET Groups industry leading Canadian safety categories such as high-viziz apparel, FR apparel, industrial rain wear and work boots.

Sellstrom will remain a stand-alone division of the JET Group, based in Illinois.
