DE-based Speakman celebrates World Water Month with local nonprofits to conserve water

Plumbing products company's philanthropic efforts shower local organizations with support

March 30, 2017

As a culmination to World Water Month, Speakman is proud to announce its partnerships with local nonprofits to conserve and improve water quality in Delaware. This year's World Water Day theme 'Why waste water?' rings true to the Delaware-based company since it invented showering close to 150 years ago. This past year Speakman met its pledge of helping America save one billion gallons of water by encouraging consumers to change the way they shower. In addition to designing a range of shower heads that use 20-40 percent less water, the company's philanthropic efforts send a steady flow of financial and volunteer support to water conservation causes.

This year, Speakman is expanding its conservation commitment by supporting three local organizations and events. First is the Delaware Nature Society where Speakman has signed on to join the Clean Water Alliance and will support the Clean Water Campaign which strives to improve water quality of local waterways through advocacy, conservation and education.

Secondly, Speakman signs on for the second year as Lead Sponsor of the 2017 Dogfish Dash, the 'slightly off-centered' road race scheduled for September 24, 2017 in Milton, DE.  The popular race once again benefits the Delaware Chapter of The Nature Conservancy to aid its efforts of improving the overall health and water quality of Delaware rivers and priority watersheds.

Finally, this summer, as the Official Shower Head of Firefly, Speakman will provide water-efficient shower heads for the 70,000 expected attendees of the annual Firefly music festival from June 15-18 in Dover, Del.  A total of 425 shower facilities will be on-site providing concertgoers with showers that use less water without sacrificing performance, directly conserving water usage for the four-day event.

"Speakman's commitment to water conservation will always be a significant part of who we are as a company," said CEO Bob Knoll. "We started this company in Delaware close to 150 years ago, and feel it's imperative that we continue to do our part to address water conservation, and to partner with organizations that will help improve the lives of Delawareans."

About Speakman: Delaware-based and family owned since 1869, Speakman engineers a full line of premium bath, plumbing and safety products for the hospitality, commercial and residential industries. Speakman.com . Water as it was intended to be experienced.
