2009 National Ergonomics Conference schedule announced (8/4)

August 4, 2009

The 15th Annual National Ergonomics Conference and Exposition (ErgoExpo) at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas, November 17 – 20 will feature the high quality speakers and sessions that have led 99% of attendees to say they’d recommend ErgoExpo to a colleague, according to a press release. Conference tracks will include: Program Management, Office Ergonomics, Industrial Ergonomics & Material Handling, Healthcare & Lab Ergonomics, Design for the Aging & Diverse Workforce, Health & Wellness, and Behavior-Based Training. This year’s core educational topics will be combined with methods for coping with the current economy, keeping reduced workforces safe and productive, and new ways to reduce injuries and workers’ compensation costs.

Attendees from BP, Chubb Insurance, Conoco Phillips, UC Davis Medical Center and many others began registering before the final program was even released, proving that business leaders rely on ErgoExpo to provide cutting-edge strategies and case studies from ergonomics trailblazers. Just a few weeks later, Allergan, AgriBank, Chevron, Corning Inc., Eli Lilly & Co., Gallo Wine, Levi Strauss & Co., Raytheon, San Diego National Bank, Tucson Electric Co., U.S. Army, and the U.S. Dept. of Energy and many others continued to register on a daily basis.

“The speaker faculty knows that it’s all hands on deck at every workplace in the nation. Those coping with scaled-back workforces must ensure that their most valuable resource is able to work safely and at peak capacity. The faculty is prepared to share their secrets to ergonomics success for any budget, in any type of workplace,” commented Walter Charnizon, president of Continental Exhibitions, Inc., owners/producers of ErgoExpo.

On November 18, Frank Maguire, founder & former SVP of FedEx, one of the world’s leading authorities on corporate culture, leadership, and productivity, will discuss how organizations can use ergonomics and communication to combat the complex challenges of scaled-back workforces, budget cuts and low morale. November 19, Brent Pawlecki, MD, MMM; corporate medical director, Pitney Bowes will share how ergonomics and wellness programs have led to boosted productivity and a 19% reduction in lost work days. The 5th Annual State of the Industry Address will be delivered by David Cochran, Ph.D., PE, CPE, an ergonomics pioneer involved in industry and OSHA-related activities for over 20 years. And, industry leaders from About.com, Cornell University, JetBlue, Kaiser Permanente, Liberty Mutual, Pepperidge Farm, Sony Pictures, Travelers, Tulane University Medical Center among others will present comprehensive ergonomics strategies.

Attendees who hold certification with the ABIH and BCSP will qualify for certification maintenance, and BCPE testing will take place on November 16 at Caesars Palace, allowing participants to attend the full ErgoExpo program.

More than 85% of exhibit space for this year’s ErgoExpo is sold. Exhibitors like Power Pusher by NuStar and Prestige International have increased the size of their exhibit space in anticipation of an audience hungry for new productivity and cost-saving solutions. Major sponsors including Herman Miller, Fellowes, Kinesis and Steelcase have renewed, and new exhibitors including Anatome, Ideal Seating, Medcare, and New Designs for Comfort have joined the Expo. The exhibitor list, which includes 3M, AliMed, Appleton Manufacturing, Hello Direct, Goldtouch, Neutral Posture and many others is at www.ErgoExpo.comgov, along with the current floor plan and exhibitor prospectus. This year’s exhibitors are planning new product debuts at the Expo, making the 8th Annual Attendees’ Choice Awards Program highly competitive.

Online registration is available, along with the conference program, speaker bios, hotel, airline and other travel discount information at www.ErgoExpo.com. Advance registration rates are now in effect and offer a $100 savings. Groups of three or more are eligible for a 10% per registration discount; significant savings are available for the U.S. military; and ErgoExpo Alumni can also enjoy a savings of $50 until Oct. 1, 2009. Those interested in exhibiting at ErgoExpo, or speaking at future events should contact show management at 212-370-5005 or at information@ErgoExpo.com.
