Cintas Surpasses $175,000 fundraising goal for American Heart Association

Cintas celebrates success and unveils 2014 Heart Walk and Run schedule

February 17, 2014

Vendor NewsCintas Corporation (NASDAQ: CTAS), a leader in first-aid supplies and automated external defibrillator (AED) programs, today announced it has raised $195,000 for the American Heart Association (AHA) through its participation in more than 50 nationwide Heart Walks & Runs in 2013. This total surpasses the initial goal of raising $175,000 to fight heart disease. The Cintas 2014 schedule will aim to generate $220,000 for the cause.

“It’s the unwavering dedication of Cintas’ employee-partners to the AHA partnership that allows us to raise awareness and set new fundraising records each year,” said Scott Garula, President and COO, First Aid & Safety, Cintas. “With each step, supporters demonstrated their commitment to reducing preventable cardiovascular deaths and improving health and safety in their local communities.”

The 2014 Heart Walk & Run schedule includes:
• Orange County, Calif. – March 8, 2014
• Cincinnati – March 16, 2014
• San Diego – June 1, 2014
• Detroit – June 6, 2014
• Denver – June 7, 2014
• Tampa, Fla. – July 31, 2014
• Boston – Sept. 6, 2014
• Chicago – Sept. 26, 2014
• Baltimore – Oct. 11, 2014
• Houston – Nov. 15, 2014

Funds raised by the sponsorship of the Heart Walks & Runs held nationwide will benefit the AHA’s goal to reduce deaths from cardiovascular disease and stroke by 20 percent through education and research programs. Over the past three years, Cintas has raised more than $330,000 for the AHA through formal sponsorships and fundraising efforts. Garula serves as an elected official on the AHA’s Executive Leadership Team in Cincinnati to encourage corporate fundraising initiatives in the community.

In addition to its sponsorship of AHA Heart Walks & Runs, Cintas provides businesses with tools that increase survival rates of individuals experiencing sudden cardiac arrest (SCA). For example, Cintas’ ReviveR™ VIEW is a simple-to-use AED with interactive audio and visual guidance that helps responders through the entire rescue process. To date, 336 lives have been saved as a result of Cintas’ AEDs. With a comprehensive AED program, Cintas manages and maintains each AED to guarantee they are in proper working order. Cintas is also the largest authorized provider of AHA training courses and programs, ensuring employees feel confident to use AEDs and businesses can limit injury and prevent SCA-associated death.

“We’re thrilled to have Cintas as a sponsor for the Heart Walks and Runs again this year,” said Mark McDonald, Greater Cincinnati Board Chair of the American Heart Association. “Their contribution will help support the ongoing work of the AHA in reducing cardiovascular deaths across the nation.”
