3M shares innovative methods and best practices for worker safety at AIHce 2014

3M experts participate in 35+ professional development sessions on hearing, respiratory, eye, face, head, body, and fall protection at AIHce conference

May 27, 2014

3MTo help health and safety professionals stay on top of the latest industry developments and best practices, 3M will have a strong presence at AIHce 2014. The American Industrial Hygiene Conference & Exposition (AIHce) is one of the most important events of the year among occupational and environmental health and safety professionals. At this year’s conference in San Antonio, Texas, slated from May 31 - June 5, 3M professionals will serve as instructors, speakers and roundtable members during six days of education and networking.

3M is represented in more than 35 professional development classes, presentations and discussion groups spanning a wide range of topics, from “Setting Occupational Exposure Limits for Nanomaterials” to “Characterizing Risks from Dermal Exposure,” as well as “Business Benefits of Sustainability and Product Stewardship,” among many others. The 3M booth at the Expo, number 5001, highlights many of the Environmental Health and Safety technologies, products and processes developed by the company.

During one session titled “Applications (and Misapplications) of Personal Protective Equipment in Non-US Facilities,” Donald Rust of the 3M Personal Safety Division, explores the global standards and challenges in selecting safety eyewear based on hazard assessments. In another session, titled “Game Changers in Industrial Hygiene Air Sampling” 3M’s Simon Bushel will compare the process of helium diffusion sampling to other sampling methods.

Throughout the conference, 3M will share the company’s expertise in the world of employee health and safety. “Workers must have personal protective equipment that is comfortable, productivity-enhancing and appropriate for their specific work environment,” said Laurie Wells, senior acoustics specialist, 3M. “Our commitment is always to find better ways to help protect workers, and AIHce provides an excellent opportunity for us to share what we’ve learned to help serve that need.”
