DSM Dyneema launches distributor program, gives away demo kiosk at National Safety Council’s Annual Congress & Expo

Setting new industry standards with a material that combines unmatched cut resistance with ultimate comfort

September 17, 2014

Vendor NewsDSM Dyneema, the manufacturer of ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMwPE) fiber, Dyneema®, the world’s strongest fiber, and leading cut resistance innovation Dyneema® Diamond Technology, unveiled a new sales training and marketing collaboration, the Diamond Coalition at the National Safety Council’s (NSC) Congress & Expo. Aimed at personal protective equipment distributors, the Diamond Coalition offers members access to exclusive training and communications programs that will prepare them to become the most effective distributors of cut resistant gloves made with Dyneema® Diamond Technology, and ultimately increase their sales potential. To support this initiative, the company will sponsor a register-to-win portable demonstration kiosk giveaway to distributors who attend the show. The kiosk offers distributors an ideal platform for showcasing cut resistant gloves made with Dyneema® and Dyneema® Diamond Technology, as well as demonstrating easy to replicate common sense cut tests comparing various materials, abrasion test results, and on-screen access via iPad or tablet computer to research and materials comparison data. DSM Dyneema will also conduct demonstrations at its booth (#3853) to showcase the superior protection and comfort that Dyneema® Diamond Technology offers compared to other materials.

Hand injuries are a leading cause of lost workdays and emergency-room visits, making them costly to both employers and employees alike. DSM Dyneema takes hand injuries very seriously, and the launch of the Diamond Coalition highlights its commitment to working with the world’s leading work glove manufacturers to create the “World’s Safest Hands,” and set a new standard for cut protection in the workplace. Dyneema® Diamond Technology is the only fiber that can be used without adding other materials to create a comfortable, thin, supple glove that reaches up to EN 388 level 5 cut protection. The material is also increasingly used in performance apparel such as ice hockey socks, denim and other gear that benefit from its strength, light weight and cut/abrasion resistance.

About DSM Dyneema

DSM Dyneema is the inventor and manufacturer of Ultra High Molecular Weight PolyEthylene (UHMwPE) fiber branded as Dyneema®, the world’s strongest fiber™. Dyneema® offers maximum strength combined with minimum weight. It is up to 15 times stronger than quality steel and up to 40 percent stronger than aramid fibers, both on weight for weight basis. Dyneema® fiber floats on water and is extremely durable and resistant to moisture, UV light and chemicals. The applications are therefore more or less unlimited. Dyneema® is an important component in ropes, cables and nets in the fishing, shipping and offshore industries. Dyneema® is also used in safety gloves for the metalworking industry and in fine yarns for applications in sporting goods and the medical sector. In addition, Dyneema® is also used in bullet resistant armor and clothing for police and military personnel.

UHMwPE fiber from DSM Dyneema is produced in Greenville, North Carolina (U.S.A.) and in Heerlen (The Netherlands). DSM Dyneema is also a partner in a high modulus polyethylene (HMPE) manufacturing joint venture in Japan. Further information on DSM Dyneema is available at www.dyneema.com.
