3E Company and PEC/Premier Safety Management Announce Strategic Alliance to Enhance EH&S Compliance in Oil and Gas Industry

June 29, 2011
3E Company, a leading provider of environmental health and safety (EH&S) compliance and information management services, and PEC/Premier Safety Management, a provider of training curriculum, safety, and training record databases and standardized audits for oil and gas contractors, today announced a strategic alliance promoting EH&S regulatory compliance management in the oil and gas industry. Through the alliance, PEC and 3E Company aim to facilitate conformance with upcoming Safety and Environmental Management Systems (SEMS) deadlines, while also promoting the development and maintenance of a safe working environment for employees.

PEC selected 3E Company over other providers as its EH&S solution strategic ally because of the company’s unique and compelling value propositions, including member access to 3E Company’s premier dynamic database containing millions of material safety data sheets (MSDS); the company’s reputation for data accuracy, quality, and currency; the availability of 24/7 on-call support; and the experience and expertise of 3E Company’s professional staff.

The alliance combines the strengths of both companies, including 3E Company’s award-winning 3E Online™ – MSDS management solution, its unique 24/7 EH&S Mission Control Call Center, PEC’s Standardized Safety Questionnaire (SSQ), the PEC Advanced Training Tracker, and other assessment tools included in the Contractor Assistance Program (CAP), to offer PEC member companies an impressive array of compliance management services, including the following:
  • 3E Online – MSDS management for web-based access to hazardous material inventory associated MSDSs, critical product-level data, and integrated regulatory content. Instant access to this information assists in EH&S and SEMS compliance requirements.
  • 3E MSDS and transportation hotlines for 24/7 access to live professionals and the entire 3E database of millions of MSDSs, which are sent via e-mail or faxed directly to PEC member companies. Also included is access to transportation specialists for instructions on shipping hazardous materials.
  • 3E chemical spill and exposure hotlines for toll-free 24/7 access to spill specialists for information and guidance on hazard assessment and spills, including on-demand poison exposure assistance from accredited healthcare professionals and chemical spill assistance from 3E’s HazMat Response Team.
Access to this type of information is especially critical given the upcoming SEMS deadline mandated by the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation, and Enforcement (BOEMRE). By November 15, 2011, all offshore operators must have a SEMS plan, and operators must ensure that contractors pass a safety evaluation and meet training requirements under SEMS to work offshore. Having access to accurate and up-to-date MSDSs is an essential component of a comprehensive SEMS plan.

“At PEC, we are committed to helping the energy industry meet the new SEMS ruling from BOEMRE. Through our alliance with 3E Company, we are now able to offer our member companies discounted access to 3E’s vast expertise and award-winning solutions, both of which will be invaluable in creating and maintaining a SEMS plan, while simultaneously facilitating OSHA compliance and ensuring workplace safety,” said Chris England, business development manager, PEC/Premier Safety Management.

“Managing EH&S compliance can be a confusing and cumbersome task. This alliance, however, eases the burden of compliance by offering PEC member companies access to the best EH&S solutions and information on the market today at a special discounted price. We anticipate that this alliance will be very valuable for oil and gas companies that are struggling to conform to the myriad of OSHA regulations impacting their business,” said Chris Kraus, director of strategic alliances, 3E Company.
