Bend, Oregon to host construction safety conference (12/11)

Workers and employers in Oregon’s construction industry are invited to attend a full-day conference designed to highlight safety with hands-on training on Jan. 26, 2009, according to an Oregon OSHA press release.

The Department of Consumer and Business Services, Occupational Safety and Health Division (Oregon OSHA) is one of several partners presenting the Mid-Oregon Construction safety Summit at the Riverhouse Resort and Conference Center in Bend, Ore. Oregon OSHA Administrator Michael Wood will deliver the keynote address.

The training, designed for residential and commercial construction workers, is themed “Safety – Now and Tomorrow.” Conference attendees can choose from 16 different classes, such as fall protection and forklift safety. Some of the other topics include:

• Cost of accidents
• Electrical safety
• Adult First aid/CPR
• Safety boot camp for supervisors
• Vehicle safety
• Work zone safety/flagging

The registration fee is $50, or $60 after Jan. 21, 2009. For the first-aid/CPR certification class only, the cost is $40. For more information or to register, go to www.orosha.org/conferences.
