The American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE), Des Plaines, Iowa, will host a technical conference call on Wednesday, Dec. 13, to address the issue of lockout/tagout (LOTO) for demolition and construction operations. The conference call will include a discussion of the newly approved American National Standards Institute (ANSI) report,A10.44 Control of Energy Sources (Lockout/Tagout) for Construction and Demolition Operations Standard.
ASSE’s vice-chair of the A10.44 subgroup, Jim Lapping, CSP, PE, MS will lead the call and discuss the history of the A10.44 project and why it was launched. Lapping plans to review the contents and requirements of the standard; address how regulatory agencies can use voluntary national consensus standards such as A10.44; and address key issues and differences with the ANSI/ASSE Z244.1 General Industry LOTO Standard due to questions about how the two standards work together.
Registrants will have access to the audio conference, a PowerPoint presentation, resource materials, articles and will receive a compact disk recording of the call. To register for the audio conference contact ASSE Customer Service at (847) 699-2929 or visit the ASSE website,www.asse.org.
