When protective equipment is competing for space on the same face and head, workers may be tempted to remove or improperly use one component or the other. The latest protective eyewear from 3M, the 3M HIE6 Protective Eyewear, is integrated directly into the suspension of our 3M hard hats, nearly eliminating the weight of eyewear on a person’s nose and with no temples. This integration reduces a common cause of worker discomfort and helps ensure the proper use of protective equipment.
“Safety and health professionals should consider all the different types of protective equipment required before making a selection,” said Javiera Troncoso, product marketing manager, 3M Personal Safety Division. “The HIE6 Protective Eyewear from 3M is well suited for workers requiring both protective eyewear and hard hats, as the integrated design helps improve overall comfort.”
The new eyewear, which attaches directly to the hard hat suspension, is easy to adjust and retracts neatly between the hard hat shell and suspension when not in use, helping avoid it from scratching when not in use.
The 3M HIE6 Protective Eyewear integrates with the H-700 and H-800 Series of hard hats. The lens is available in clear, amber and gray, and features an anti-fog coating to help prevent moisture build up.
