SafeTec announces SafeTec Essentials™, helping SMBs meet OSHA requirements

July 6, 2016

SafeTec Compliance Systems (SafeTec) announced today the launch of its new product, SafeTec Essentials™; created to help small- and medium-sized companies meet Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) compliance standards with safety data sheet (SDS) management and safety training tools.

June 1, 2016 was the final deadline in OSHA’s four-stage conversion to the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS), which requires all employers replace material safety data sheets (MSDSs) with the newly formatted safety data sheets (SDSs) and train employees on GHS labels and hazard classifications.

Essentials is a simplified version of the enterprise-focused SafeTec System™, tailored for small- to medium- sized companies. Developed by SafeTec with its parent company, Health & Safety Institute (HSI), the new product delivers quality SDS data via HSI’s Otis™ technology platform coupled with online workplace training from Summit Training Source™, also among HSI’s family of brands, all within one easy-to-use system.

“The ability to manage SDSs and safety training delivery from a single, affordable platform is a solution this market really needs to efficiently comply with OSHA standards,” says HSI CEO Chad Birckelbaw. “At HSI, we’re passionate about providing health and safety services to help protect our community at large, which meant creating a solution accessible to companies of all sizes.”

“For those struggling to gather safety data sheets, SafeTec Essentials enables the building of quality SDS collections, which are indexed and reviewed by our expert quality assurance team,” states Birckelbaw. “Despite the recent GHS deadline, many companies are still working to meet compliance requirements, which is why we’re well-positioned to help. We can have customers up-and-running within minutes; and our flexible pricing structure provides sensible subscriptions for a broad spectrum of companies.”
