Press Brake and Power Press Safety is topic of next Rockford Systems mini-webinar

Rockford Systems
March 1, 2018

In the face of global competition, fabricators are looking for new ways to lower per-piece costs. While automation is one option, another attactive opportunity is machine safeguarding. Having proper safetyguarding in place can not only reduce accidents, it can increase a fabricator's overall productivity and profitability, eliminate costly OSHA violations and legal expenses, and lower insurance premiums.

To help fabricators gain a better understanding of safeguarding two of the most widely used machines in their industry -- press brakes and power presses -- Rockford Systems will host a mini-webinar titled "Safeguarding Basics: Press Brakes and Power Presses." Attendees will learn how to meet or exceed OSHA, ANSI and NFPA standards, while reducing operational costs, and preventing employee accidents on these machines. Although existing safety standards address operation of press brakes and power presses, injuries and amputations among press operators are still occurring with alarming frequency.

The live, complimentary mini-webinar is scheduled for Tuesday, March 13, from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM CT. It will be led by Roger Harrison, Director of Training for Rockford Systems, and an expert on OSHA, CFR, ANSI and NFPA safety standards. The presentation will last 30 minutes, followed by a 5-10 min Q&A.

This informative, free webinar will specifically cover:

  • The details of OSHA 29 CFR 1910.217 and 29 CFR 1910.212, and ANSI B11.3-2012, Safety Requirements for Power Press Brakes
  • Safeguarding techniques including light curtains, foot pedals, 2-handed controls, and camera-based laser vision systems
  • Understanding the hazards of operating a press brake and how accidents occur when machinery is commissioned improperly or used carelessly.
