A 24-year-old worker was killed at work last week when hundreds of pounds of plate glass fell on him, crushing him.

News reports say Damarcus Laquan Calloway, an employee of Virginia Glass Products in Ridgeway, North Carolina, died April 22 from traumatic injuries. Calloway was reportedly loading plate glass onto a truck when the incident occurred.

He was treated at the scene by the Henry County Public Safety and Ridgeway Rescue Squad, then transported to a medical facility, where he was later pronounced dead. First responders arrived ten minutes after a call was placed to 911.

According to its website, Virginia Glass Products manufactures all-glass entrance doors, architectural tempered glass, frameless shower enclosures and laminated glass for commercial construction.

The incident is being investigated by the Virginia Department of Labor and Industry.
