Ergodyne launches innovative new hinged knee pads, solves common worker complaint

Ergodyne
August 12, 2019

Ergodyne announced their latest solution to a problem as common to job sites as knee pads themselves: workers struggling to keep their knee pads in place. “Workers crawling out or slipping out of knee pads has long been an issue with most knee pads,” says Aaron Skemp, Senior Product Specialist, Ergodyne. “We had a major airline come to us looking to work together to build a better knee pad for their workers crawling around in airplane bins.”

After rounds of design and testing, the Comfort Hinged™ design was introduced and added to two of Ergodyne’s best-selling hard cap and soft cap knee pads. This new design places the top strap higher on the worker’s leg, which adds extra protection against impacts to the thigh, and moves the strap away from the back of the knee to prevent irritation. The Comfort Hinge™ allows the knee pad to flex at the hinge point for better mobility, while preventing workers from crawling or leaning out of their knee pads when they work on their knees.

The new ProFlex® Comfort Hinged™ Knee Pads – available in hard or soft cap – feature a lightweight combination of gel and foam padding for long-wearing comfort and support without extra weight.

  • ProFlex® 435 Comfort Hinged™ Hard Cap Gel Knee Pads w/ Buckles
  • ProFlex® 435HL Comfort Hinged™ Hard Cap Gel Knee Pads w/ Hook & Loop
  • ProFlex® 450 Comfort Hinged™ Soft Cap Gel Knee Pads - Slip Resistant

“Knee injuries are one of the most common injuries on the job,” said Tom Votel, CEO & President, Ergodyne. “We wanted to create a comfortable, functional knee pad that passes inspection by some of the most demanding users: the transportation industry. And, with insightful worker feedback and collaboration, I’d say we’ve directly addressed, and solved for, the most common pain points folks have with their current knee protection solution.”
