Two Texas employers have been hit with million-dollar-plus OSHA fines:

Lifetime Doors, Inc., was cited for 37 alleged violations at its Hearne, Texas, facility and fined $1,124,500 after two workers suffered finger amputations and another had both hands crushed. OSHA accused the company of failing to train employees in machinery lockout procedures and failing to implement a lockout-tagout program.

U.S. Denro Steel, Inc., doing business as Jindal United Steel Corporation in southeastern Texas, was fined $1,702,800 for more than 180 alleged violations. OSHA inspectors claim the company failed to report numerous injuries and illnesses from 1998 through part of 2000, significantly lowering the company’s lost workday rate.
