One of two Aramark food service workers who was injured when a cart plunged down an elevator shaft at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia on July 28 died Thursday after being removed from life support, according to thePhiladelphia Inquirer.
Police did not immediately release the name of the worker who died. The second worker, the victim’s brother, remained in an undisclosed hospital, police said.
Officials said the four-wheeled vehicle, driven by one of the Aramark food service workers, fell 30 feet down the shaft before landing onto the elevator car after hitting and somehow opening the elevator doors on the third level of the stadium.
An Aramark spokeswoman said the company is offering counseling to the worker’s family and to co-workers.
Officials from the state and OSHA are investigating.
