Like EPA, Earth Day is celebrating its 39th anniversary this year and, in an Earth Month video message released today, Administrator Lisa P. Jackson challenges all Americans to begin building the green economy that will define the next two decades, according to an EPA press release.

In the video, Administrator Jackson notes how far we have come in 39 years and challenges us, as individuals and as a community, to take steps to protect the water we drink, the air we breathe and the land where we live, work and play. Administrator Jackson asks us to think about how future generations will judge our efforts 39 years from now.

EPA, under the Obama Administration, is working to help create a clean energy economy that produces new jobs that protect human health and the environment and frees us from our dependence on foreign oil.
