In a brief letter sent last week to Dr. David Michaels, Assistant Secretary of OSHA, the St. Louis Chapter of ASSE retracted its opposition to an Injury/Illness Prevention Program (I2P2) OSHA Standard.

Chapter President Harry Miller said the action was being taken "at the direction of the national ASSE Executive Committee." He gave no further details.

The most recent I2P2-related letter sent by the chapter to Michaels is in marked contrast to one in early April, which detailed a long list of objections to the proposed standard.

Inthatletter, Miller expressed his concern for "compliance enforcement excesses," and warned that the standard would increase paperwork and result in “de facto standards by compliance directive and interpretive letter."
