Wiley X sponsored NASCAR drivers show their drive to succeed at Daytona 500

With five racers in top 25 and big plans for 2013, Wiley X pro racing team is focused on victory

February 28, 2013

WileyXAs usual, the eyes of NASCAR fans around the world were on Daytona International Speedway this past weekend, as the best drivers on earth went fender-to-fender in an effort to win this prestigious race and put themselves in a solid position to chase the Sprint Cup during 2013.

When it was all said and done and the checkered flag had fallen, Wiley X®, Inc.'s team of sponsored NASCAR drivers competed hard and made a strong showing.  Five Wiley X drivers cracked the Top 25 in this highly competitive race, including Greg Biffle of Roush Fenway Racing in 6th Place, Michael McDowell of Curb Racing in 9th Place, Aric Almirola of Richard Petty Motorsports in 13th, Joey Logano of Penske Racing in 19th and BK Racing's Travis Kvapil in 25th.  Joe Gibbs Racing's Matt Kenseth - also sponsored by Wiley X and winner of the 2012 Daytona 500 - led the race for 86 laps before engine trouble forced him out.

Other positive Wiley X news from the oval in Daytona Beach, Florida included Ron Hornady's 3rd Place finish in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Race, and a down-to-the-wire 2nd Place finish in the UNOH Battle at the Beach NASCAR K&N Pro Series race by Gray Gaulding, a 14-year-old racing protégé recently signed by Wiley X.

With Daytona in the review mirror, Wiley X and its stable of sponsored racers are focused on the full slate of NASCAR races ahead.  Wiley X continues to work closely with many of the sport's top drivers, including David Ragan, Kevin Harvick®, Joe Nemechek and Chad Hackenbracht.  Wiley X is also the Official Sunglass of NASCAR powerhouse Roush Fenway Racing, for whom both Biffle and Carl Edwards drive.

"There are many laps of racing ahead and we expect great things during the coming NASCAR season," said Wiley X Co-Owner Myles Freeman, Jr.  "These are the finest drivers in the business, they always represent themselves and Wiley X well every time they race.  We're proud to be associated with these athletes, and proud of the energy and effort they put forth every time they hit the track," Freeman added.

Wiley X's sponsorship of these and other top racers makes perfect sense given the company's reputation for clear vision and superior eye protection in extreme environments.  Wiley X is the only premium sunglass brand whose entire line meets stringent ANSI Z87.1 High Velocity and High Mass Impact Safety Standards, providing wearers with protection against a wide range
of hazards.
