OSHA’s “to do” list

Rules, rulemaking and other standards activity planned

April 23, 2013

OSHAWith Agency requested funding in FY 2014, OSHA projects that it will issue four Final Rules:

  • Infectious Disease
  • Recordkeeping Modernizatio
  • Beryllium
  • Vertical tandem Lifts

The agency also says it will issue seven Notices of Proposed Rulemaking:

  • Standards Improvement Project Phase IV
  • Infectious Disease
  • Injury and Illness Prevention Programs
  • Combustible Dust
  • Backover Protection
  • and 2 consensus standard update actions

Also in the works: the initiation of SBREFA reviews for five rules (Combustible Dust, Backover Protection, one chemical standard, and two other new initiatives).

Other ongoing standards activity will also require substantial resources to progress toward a final action; examples include updates of chemical Permissible Exposure Limits, Reinforced Concrete, and new initiatives to address maritime hazards and recommendations from the Chemical Safety Board.
