American Society of Safety Engineers 2014 Conference & Expo

American Society of Safety Engineers 2014 Conference & Expo

March 4, 2014
Join more than 4,500 safety professionals to make lasting connections with people who speak your language and share the same day-to-day challenges.  Subject your thinking to the best judges around – your peers. They’ll tell it like it is, provide immediate feedback and give you something to think about. You will agree that the relationships and shared knowledge that result from networking are a much added value to the conference experience.

With a powerful set of General Session speakers including Charles Duhigg, author of “The Power of Habit” and Sidney Dekker, a leading authority on human factors and safety as well as the leaders of OSHA and NIOSH, the Safety 2014 Program is strong.

Educational opportunities

Attendees will build their knowledge and skills and earn CEUs during more than 250 peer-reviewed sessions geared to a variety of experience levels and covering topics like sustainability, environmental management, standards, transportation, ergonomics, industrial hygiene, fire protection, risk assessement, construction safety and organizational management, in addition to the more traditional aspects of safety management and engineering.

Sessions include: Advancing Your Career: From Safety Leader to Business Partner; The Future of Occupational Risk Management; Best Practices for Screening and Selecting Safe Contractors and Subcontractors and Process Safety Management Best Practices, Lessons Learned and Enforcement Trends.

Engaging roundtable conversations will explore issues like: Managing Temporary Worker Safety in Manufacturing; Career Ladders for Safety Professionals – What is Working and What is Not; Environmental Leading Indicators – Leading the Way and Expanding Consulting Capabilities Through Relationships.

New this year

ASSE and ISHN have teamed up for the Attendee Choice Awards. Don’t miss your chance to recognize today’s most innovative PPE and safety products. All products profiled, from AEDs to Training, will be on display in the Attendee Choice Awards Pavilion in the Exposition Hall. Winners will be announced on-site June 10.

Public voting begins in March – and you’ll have a chance to win one or both contests in each product category you enter! Go to http://www.safety2014.org/attendee_choice.php  to learn more.

The Expo marketplace

With more than 500 exhibitors, the exposition is filled with a wide range of products, services, technologies and innovations to help EHS professionals take their safety and health programs to the next level. The virtual trade show allows a sneak preview of all the exhibitors at the show, and you can even search by product category or company and browse product information and schedule appointments ahead of time.

Meet your sponsor

Founded in 1911, the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) is the world’s oldest professional safety society. ASSE promotes the expertise, leadership and commitment of its members while providing them with professional development, advocacy and standards development. It also sets the occupational safety, health and environmental community’s standards for excellence and ethics.

ASSE is a global association of occupational safety professionals representing more than 35,000 members worldwide.  The Society is also a visible advocate for SH&E professionals through proactive government affairs at the federal and state levels, and in member-led relationships with key federal safety and health agencies.

ASSE members create safer work environments by preventing workplace fatalities, injuries and illnesses.

Outside the conference

A popular tourist destination, Orlando is nicknamed “The City Beautiful” as well as “The Theme Park Capital of the World.” Major attractions include Walt Disney World Resort, Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure, City Walk, SeaWorld, Gatorland and Wet ‘n Wild Water Park.

Not into theme parks? Other visitor destinations include La Nouba - Cirque du Soleil, Mama’s Comedy show and iFLY Orlando, which gives people the chance to experience indoor skydiving under true free-fall conditions — just like skydiving — without having to jump out of an airplane.
