Environmental health and safety pros work to protect people nearly every day. While we are trained to prevent injuries, illnesses and environmental damage, no one is perfect, and mistakes and oversights may occur.
We recently conducted an online (what else) focus group with a dozen safety and health professionals to learn how they currently use the Internet. We wove their comments together with results from several mail surveys we've conducted of hundreds of professionals to compile this list - "Ten traits of Internet users in the safety world."
The new safety manager wanted to talk about our safety record. I was planning on a pleasant meeting. After all, our plant had reduced injuries by 200 percent over the past eight years. We were ranked in the top ten percent of local chemical plants when comparing our OSHA rate. But when I sat down in his office, it was clear that he was concerned.
