MSHA launches inspection blitz in nation's coalfields (4/23)

The Mine Safety and Health Administration announced in a press statement that the agency launched an inspection blitz over the past weekend at 57 coal mines whose history of underground conditions indicated a significant number of violations and/or conditions that may include problems relating to methane accumulations, ventilation practices, rock dust applications and inadequate mine examinations.

EPA awards nearly $80 million for community cleanup (4/21)

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced in a press release that it has selected $78.9 million in brownfields grants to communities in 40 states, four tribes, and one U.S. Territory. This funding will be used for the assessment, cleanup and redevelopment of brownfields properties, including abandoned gas stations, old textile mills, closed smelters, and other abandoned industrial and commercial properties.
