$90 Million in Recovery Act funds to boost water services in Indian country and create jobs (7/9)

EPA and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Service’s (HHS) Indian Health Service (IHS) have announced $90 million in funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 for improved access to vital drinking water and wastewater services in the American Indian and Alaska Native communities. The funds will be invested in ‘shovel ready’ infrastructure projects designed to better protect human and environmental health in Indian Country and to create jobs.

NSF International helps consumers understand water quality reports (7/8)

One of the best ways to learn about local water quality conditions is to obtain a copy of your community’s Consumer Confidence Report (CCR), says a recent press release from NSF International. Issued around July 1 each year, these water quality reports provide customers of public and private water utilities with information regarding the source of their local community’s drinking water supply, as well as the quality of the finished drinking water supply.
