Fatality & Severe Loss Prevention Symposium

11/21/13 to 11/22/13
San Diego Marriott Marquis & Marina
San Diego, CA
United States

It’s not a random event. All organizations are at risk for that difficult-to-predict catastrophic event. However, the signs of impending crisis are most often hidden beneath the radar.

Join us at this symposium to hear the best thinking there is on this topic. Find out:

  • Why the worst may happen to any organization
  • Where your organization is vulnerable to catastrophic loss
  • What you can do to avert disaster
  • Those actions taken by some highly-exposed organizations and how their strategies may be applicable in your workplace

Learn to

  • Apply forward-thinking methodology to root cause analyses to identify latent pre-cursors of catastrophic events
  • Gather “intelligence,” those metrics and relevant data for predicting fatalities and severe losses
  • Measure the safety controls currently in your workplace to determine if they are operating as intended
  • Apply the safety practices of high-reliability organizations to avoid or mitigate severe-loss occurrences
  • Implement practices that will increase your organization’s ability to avoid fatalities and severe losses
  • Determine if any of the leadership and culture attributes of your organization are predictors of fatalities and severe loss
  • Regain control when risk elements are at a high level for severe loss

Highlights

Find out what lies beneath a veneer of success. Dr. Catherine Tinsley, Professor of Management and head of the Management group at the McDonough School of Business. Georgetown University will delve into the roots of a catastrophe and why we find it difficult to see that reality.

Your organization’s greatest exposure to risk of severe loss could be found in its leadership and culture. Dr. Tom Krause, leading authority on organizational psychology will help you detect these indicators.

If an active shooter enters your organization, it is total chaos.  However, there is still something you can do and Rob Shuster, expert in security practices will share that strategy.

Gain insight from 15 concurrent sessions delivered by authorities on fatality and severe loss prevention on how to identify the workplace weaknesses, use the techniques for prevention and implement a plan that can lessen the probability of catastrophe.
