PureSafety acquires Unique Software Solutions, Inc. (1/11)

PureSafety, a leading provider of online safety training and risk management software solutions, has announced, in a press statement, the acquisition of Unique Software Solutions, Inc., developer of Occupational Health Manager® (OHM). Launched in 1986, OHM was among the first multi-module software suites designed to help Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) professionals streamline workflow, information management and reporting. OHM has a customer base of over 2,700 active installations, including numerous Fortune 500 companies.

“OHM founders Michael and Valerie Hunter truly pioneered the all-in-one approach to EHS software solutions,” said Bill Grana, president and chief executive officer of PureSafety. “From very early in our company’s development, we have been driven by a similar vision to build the industry’s most comprehensive suite of powerful, easy-to-use training, safety, medical and risk management software solutions. Adding OHM to our existing software suite creates a total solution that is unmatched in the industry.”

Born out of a workplace fatality, PureSafety initially focused on empowering its customers to more efficiently and effectively deliver, track and manage critical workplace safety training. It now offers an online safety training solution, including a proven Learning Management System, a library of over 450 customizable, online EHS and Human Resources (HR) courses, a convenient self-service Content Editing System, and top subject matter and content development experts. In 2006, it acquired PerDatum, Inc. and its Prognos™ software solutions, expanding its offering beyond training and incident prevention to include incident, injury, illness and absence management.

“Like our existing solutions, OHM delivers bottom-line business benefits by reducing costs, automating workflow, documentation and reporting, improving communication, and enhancing organizational performance,” Grana explained. “It gives us new capabilities in key areas such as medical surveillance, industrial hygiene, MSDS, and medical and clinical management. And we are particularly excited about its hosted OHM/ASP™ solution. Clients want web-based software delivery — and that’s PureSafety’s focus as we move toward the 2009 launch of our next generation platform that will eventually integrate an unprecedented range of solutions.”
