Kee Safety® named to Inc. Magazine’s Top 5000 list for 8th time

August 26, 2015

Inc. magazine has named Kee Safety, Inc., a Buffalo, New York manufacturer of safety railing systems, to its prestigious list of the 2015 Top 5000 fastest-growing private companies in the United States. Reporting three-year growth of 65% from 2012 through 2014, with revenue of $18.5 million last year, Kee Safety achieved a rank of 4,252. The company added 20 jobs during the three-year evaluation period. Kee Safety is also being recognized as a member of the Inc. 5000 Honor Roll by earning a place on the list for at least five years since 2007, and a total of eight times in the past nine years. For a track record of Kee Safety’s growth, see: http://www.inc.com/profile/kee-safety

“This is an honor to be shared by all of our employees whose dedication, hard work and creativity enable us to innovate and grow,” Mike Mumau, President of Kee Safety said. “There are more than 13 million private companies in the United States,” Mumau said, “so to be on the Inc. list means Kee Safety is in the top one-tenth of one percent.”

He attributes the continued success of the company to the aggressive development of new products and systems independently tested to meet or exceed standards set by the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) as well as other relevant building codes and safety protocols.

Kee was founded in 1934 during the difficult times of the Great Depression, manufacturing Kee Klamp® slip-on, structural pipe fittings used to build safety railings, racks, awnings, displays, tables and many other tubular pipe-fitted structures. The company began diversifying its product line in the late 1990s, introducing Kee Lite® aluminum pipe fittings for safety railings and other structures as well as KeeGuard® roof edge fall protection railing systems. “With so many changes in the marketplace, if we were still offering only our original product line and not innovated, we would not be on the Inc. list. We would be fighting for our survival,” Mumau added.

The introduction of new products and systems has continued with the expansion of the KeeGuard line, including fall protection railings for roof hatches, skylights, and dome lights, plus personal protective equipment for rooftop safety such as deadweight anchors, horizontal and overhead lifelines, and rooftop walkways. More recently, a full line of Easi-Dec® access platform systems was introduced to provide a fast and safe alternative to scaffolds, the company said. Kee Safety is currently introducing its new Kee® Gate self-closing safety gates to provide permanent hazard protection at openings, access points, and restricted areas at commercial, industrial, and institutional facilities.

Founded in 1979, Inc. unveiled its first Top 100 list of fastest-growing private companies in 1981 and extended the list to the Top 500 the following year. The publication expanded its list significantly in 2007 with a Top 5000 list, seeking to recognize a greater number of dynamic independent companies in the U.S. Kee Safety made the inaugural list of the Top 5000 in 2007 and seven other times since.

Inc. is publishing the 2015 list in its September 2015 issue and will honor recipients at a Conference and Awards Ceremony October 21 – 23, 2015, at the JW Marriot Orlando Grande Lakes, Orlando, FL.

Kee Safety, Inc., is headquartered in Buffalo, New York, and has five regional sales offices throughout the United States, Buffalo, NY (Northeast), Chicago, IL (Midwest), Matthews, NC (Southeast), Houston, TX (South), and Ontario, CA (West).
