Successful staging of OS+H ASIA 2016

October 6, 2016

At the recent staging of OS+H Asia 2016, The Occupational Safety + Health Exhibition for Asia, 199 exhibitors from 25 countries showcased their latest technologies for the sector to more than 4,500 visitors from 40 countries. Firmly establishing its position as Singapore’s foremost exhibition and total solutions platform for occupational safety and health, the three-day exhibition also featured the largest Singapore Pavilion to date, organized by the Singapore Manufacturers’ Federation, with 33 local companies participating. OS+H Asia 2016 was organized by Messe Düsseldorf Asia, the subsidiary of Messe Düsseldorf in Germany, renowned for its management of the largest international occupational safety & health show, held every two years in Düsseldorf: A+A.

On show at OS+H Asia 2016 was the full spectrum of the latest workplace safety solutions, ranging from personal safety equipment, fire protection products and services to workplace ergonomic. A growing number of visiting groups and delegations attended, including groups from the Republic of Singapore Navy, the Singapore Police Coast Guard, Molynlycke Health Care from Thailand, Easteel Services (Malaysia) SDN BHD and the Ministry of Defense from Brunei Darussalam. Pengiran Ali Bin Pengiran Haji Metasan, P.S.B, chief auditor of occupational health and safety from the Ministry of Defence from Brunei Darussalam, stated: “This is my first visit to OS+H Asia. I liked that it is a dedicated and specialized exhibition for the OSH industry. During my visit, I had the opportunity to learn about the latest products in the market and established valuable contacts for my line of work.”

Feedback from the exhibitors was positive and many plan to return for the 2018 staging. Gernot Ringling, Managing Director of Messe Düsseldorf Asia, commented: “We are very delighted with the strong attendance, which demonstrates the relevance and importance of OS+H Asia 2016 to the industry and the role it plays in raising awareness for appropriate OS+H strategies as well as facilitating sourcing opportunities and business for the sector. The positive feedback received from both exhibitors and visitors is very encouraging and puts OS+H Asia in a very good position moving forward.”

The success of this year's exhibition was also evident in the Forum on Workplace Safety and Health program which attracted over 200 participants. Jointly organized by the Singapore Institution of Safety Officers, the Institution of Engineers, Singapore, the Institution of Occupational Safety & Health (Singapore Branch), the Occupational and Environmental Health Society and Messe Düsseldorf Asia, the event focused on emerging issues in work place safety (WSH), competency requirements for WSH professionals and the latest WSH technological advances.

Long time visitors were also pleased with OS+H Asia 2016.”I have visited the exhibition for the past few editions and find it useful and relevant in keeping updated on new safety equipment and industry trends,” remarked Lim Kok Heng, operations manager at Easteel Services (Malaysia) SDN BHD. April Pascual, business development officer at SpiderKing Safety Pte Ltd, added: “There was a good mix of products at the exhibition. The business matching service was easy to navigate. As a visitor, I found the process from registration to meeting suppliers on the show floor seamless.”

The next edition of OS+H Asia will take place from August 22 – 24, 2018.
