Pure Safety Group (PSG) today announced its second acquisition in the past two weeks, purchasing Ty-Flot, Inc., the global leader in dropped objects prevention products and services, rounding out the PSG comprehensive line up of market-leading height safety products for applications across multiple industries. The transaction closed June 15, 2018.

“We’ve been busy building the type of company we’ve heard customers want,” said PSG CEO Brad Gates. “We’re hand-selecting market leaders, with an intentional focus on U.S.-made products in important categories, asking them to join us to build the world’s premier provider of height safety equipment and services.”

PSG was formed in August 2017 by industry veterans with deep safety expertise and through the acquisition of Guardian Fall Protection, Seattle and Web Devices, Houston. Just 14 days ago, the group announced it had added Checkmate Lifting and Safety Ltd., based in the U.K., to the growing PSG family of companies. Checkmate is the leading innovator, designer and manufacturer of lifting and height safety equipment.

Through the Ty-Flot acquisition, PSG will bring 126 granted or pending patents into PSG’s expansive proprietary portfolio, and add dropped object prevention products (tool tethers, anchors, attachment points and containers) as a new PSG product offering in the PSG premium product line-up. Ty-Flot will maintain its East Coast facility, which will be considered the Pure Safety Group innovation center for dropped object prevention products. Its engineers and product teams will join the now worldwide PSG innovation group.
The growing product offering will allow PSG to be a greater resource to oil and gas, power generation, construction and other market segments.

Ty-Flot leaders will stay active in the broader business, concentrating on continued innovation in the dropped objects category, and the ramp up of production to meet the needs of a larger marketplace. They will also focus on customer continuity, maintaining the family-style service and culture that Ty-Flot customers and employees have come to expect from founders Reggie Moreau, now general manager of the dropped objects prevention business, and Darrell and Andre Moreau, now product directors. Current Ty-Flot customers can continue to work with their Ty-Flot contacts for customized solutions to their safety needs. The Moreau family founded Ty-Flot in 1995.

According to Gates, their leadership also aligns well with PSG’s intent to be the leader in compliance of ANSI standards for height safety products. Last month, PSG announced ANSI Z359.18 compliance for several anchor products including details behind the testing that is performed in its accredited ISO 17025 laboratory and witnessed by a Professional Engineer. Ty-Flot leaders are active in developing ISEA and ANSI industry standards for dropped objects prevention products, serving on the ISEA 121 committee as influential, highly experienced advisors. If the standards in development for dropped objects prevention products are adopted by ISEA and ANSI, Pure Safety Group will voluntarily comply with them as part of its standards commitment.

“Customers want all the benefits an independent company provides – like product availability, excellent customer service, and trusted relationships,” said Reggie Moreau. “Yet their businesses demand continuous product innovation and centralized sourcing of a wide breadth of products and services. Pure Safety Group has built a company that brings together the best of independence and scale to benefit customers worldwide.”
