ASSP changes name of Seminarfest to Safety Focus

ASSP
June 10, 2019

One year after adopting a new organization name as part of a larger rebranding strategy, the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) has introduced a new name – Safety Focus – for its annual immersive, week-long education event. The announcement was made Monday by ASSP President Rixio Medina, CSP, CPP, at the Safety 2019 Professional Development Conference and Exhibition.

“We are aligning all of our events to the new brand,” Medina said. “Safety Focus better describes the in-depth educational experience that many safety and health professionals have come to count on every year. It’s also more reflective of the valuable opportunity to earn a significant number of continuing education units in one setting.”

Safety Focus 2020 will replace Seminarfest next year in name only. The popular education event for occupational safety and health professionals will keep its current programming schedule. ASSP’s new brand implementation began in June 2018 as the Society aims to better represent the diverse group of professionals who are part of the world’s oldest professional safety organization.

Safety Focus 2020 will be held Feb. 13-20 in Las Vegas, providing a unique immersion in safety education. The full-day course format allows attendees to gain deep knowledge on a specific topic. The event attracts more than 1,000 safety professionals who return to their organizations with the latest ideas and approaches in workplace safety, empowering them to emerge as company leaders.

“Learning must be immersive, engaging and relevant to your job, and Safety Focus meets those needs,” Medina said. “We’re excited about the new name because everything we do should fit into our overarching brand. Collectively, these efforts help us advance the occupational safety and health profession.”

Safety Focus 2020 will feature more than 90 courses from 40 expert facilitators, covering the industry’s most relevant topics over eight days. Sessions are organized by experience level and industry tracks. Attendees interact face-to-face with hundreds of safety professionals in expanding their network of contacts who share their passion for finding solutions to safety and health challenges.
