An arc flash at Xcel Energy's Cabin Creek Hydroelectric Generating Station in Colorado left five employees with non-life-threatening injuries, according to a report from the Clear Creek Courant, Idaho Springs, Colo.

At 8:10 a.m. authorities responded to an emergency at the plant, which is above Georgetown along Guanella Pass Road.

Xcel confirmed that about eight employees and a few contractors were on-site at the time of the incident, which was originally characterized as a fire but later confirmed to be an arc flash incident. Everyone was evacuated from the hydroelectric station above Georgetown, Colo., and five employees were transported to the hospital.

Because the station only provides power during periods of high demand, there has been no loss of service or power outages, the paper reported.
